The Poonta is a small, abundant animal. Its fur has many uses, and its meat contains almost all nutrients necessary for Astaralgians. Over 400 distinct species of poonta are known to exist in Astaralgia. The most common is the Greater Fiskeze Poonta, which practically dominates planets L and N. Planet A has several of the most endangered species, overhunted for their fur. Poontas are very unintelligent, even more so in groups, which makes them a ridiculously easy target to hunt. This is the origin of the phrase "[person] can't even catch a poonta".
